El Paso, Texas – 2006 Billboard Magazine Female Artist of the Year Rihanna is slated to headline the Helen of Troy Halftime Show at the 73rd Annual Brut Sun Bowl on Dec. 29th at Sun Bowl Stadium.

“It is truly exciting to have one of the nation’s premier artists perform at the Helen of Troy Halftime Show,” said Sun Bowl Association President. “Rihanna brings such an added value to the ticket buyer, who can now see the excitement of college football with a live halftime performance from the female artist of the year.”

The Nobel Peace Prize Concert will take place on December 11 in Oslo, Norway. This year’s performers include Lionel Richie, Rihanna, Simply Red, Wynonna, Renee Fleming, Paulina Rubio and Yusuf Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens). Singing sensation Rihanna, who can be an inspiration to poor Barbadian youths, should receive a national award for copping three top Billboard Music Awards last Monday. That’s the view of Government’s adviser on poverty, former minister Hamilton Lashley.

“Rihanna achieved the distinction of being the first Barbadian to take three top Billboard Music Awards, and for this I think she should be nationally honoured ? big-time,” Lashley told the Saturday Sun yesterday. “When she returns to Barbados, she should also be given red carpet treatment.”

The fairytale ride by Barbadian recording artiste, Rihanna, continued Monday night when she capped a year of triumphs with three top Billboard Awards. The 18-year-old Def Jam artiste indirectly gave Barbados a birthday gift ? less than a week after the 40th Independence anniversary ? by winning Female Artist Of The Year, Female Hot 100 Artist and Pop 100 Artist at the Billboard Music Awards held in Las Vegas.

These follow recent wins at the MOBO Awards in London, MTV Awards in Europe and Japan, and an amazing 3 week stint atop the Billboard charts in May. Accompanied by her mother Monica Fenty, Rihanna triumphed over tough competition including Mary J. Blige who stole the show with nine awards and Beyonc?

Still riding high from the success of her album, A Girl Like Me, songstress Rihanna has agreed to shoot a series of ads for CoverGirl. The ads will launch nationwide during the summer of 2007, but it is not known if CoverGirl’s campaign will work in conjunction with the promotion of Rihanna’s next album, also due in 2007.

R&B newcomer Rihanna has beaten Beyonce to the top honour at America’s Billboard Music Awards. The 18-year-old from Barbados, who sizzled in a barely-there white dress, accepted the gong for female artist of the year at the star-studded ceremony in Las Vegas on Monday night. “I really can’t feel my legs. This is phenomenal,” she said as she accepted the coveted award. “That was a really tough category.”
